About Melina
Melina Root is a costume designer working in the fields of television, theatre and film. Her designs for NBC's 3rd Rock for the Sun and Fox's That 70's Show received six nominations and two Emmy Awards as well as five Costume Designers Guild Awards nominations. For television, she has designed costumes for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Superstore, Guys with Kids, No Tomorrow, Brothers & Sisters, Miss Guided, Twenty Good Years, Saturday Night Live (1990-1994), The Martin Short Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Townies, Normal Ohio, and That 80’s Show, among many others. Her film credits include Wayne's World II and Brothers Solomon.
Trained as a theatre designer, Ms. Root has worked at the Public Theatre, Playwrights Horizons, Circle Rep, NYC; Hartford Stage; Yale Repertory Theatre; The Juilliard School; LaJolla Playhouse; The Goodman Theatre, Chicago; San Diego's Old Globe; Mark Taper Forum and the Geffen Playhouse. She originated the designs for Adam Guettal and Tina Landau's ground-breaking musical, Floyd Collins, and received a Drama Desk nomination for the NY Shakespeare Festival/Delacorte Theatre production of As You Like It. She is a graduate of Yale College and the Yale School of Drama.
